Fence pricing depends on material, height, yard layout, gates, and site conditions, so the numbers below are a typical ballpark for a professional installation, not a quote. A site visit is usually required for an accurate price.

These ranges reflect what it costs to have a professional crew build the fence properly: posts set deep and in concrete, hardware that lasts, and work that holds up in our clay soil. If you see a price well below the low end here, ask what’s being left out.

How We Build Our Wood Fences

Every cedar and pressure-treated pine fence we build includes:

• A 3-rail design, which helps prevent warped pickets and adds strength
• Rot board – 6″ is standard, but you can go higher if desired
• Posts set at least 24” deep, with 80 lbs of concrete per post
• Simpson brackets where the rails meet the posts, instead of toe-nailed joints
• Hot-dipped galvanized ring shank nails

These details are a big part of why prices start where they do. Rails pulling away from the posts is one of the first things to fail on a cheap fence, and nails that back out or corrode leave brown streaks down the boards. A little extra investment up front saves you repairs down the line.

What To Do With The Low-Ball Estimate?

If you get a price that seems too good to be true, it probably is. Quality materials cost money, and so does craftsmanship. Reputable companies will be close to the ranges above. If someone is quoting you far below the other quotes you received, be skeptical. What materials are they using? Are they going to skimp on rails or concrete to reduce costs? Will they be there to take the deposit check and then disappear when it’s time to install? Will they respond when you ask them to readjust the gate after the posts settle next month?
