About Willis

Willis is a Montgomery County city of around 7,000 residents on I-45 and Highway 75, with the central part of Lake Conroe a few miles to the west. It grew up as a lumber and agricultural town along the Union Pacific rail line and today is a mix of in-town lots, lake-adjacent subdivisions, and Piney Woods acreage, with the Sam Houston National Forest not far to the south.

You’ve got in-town Willis lots with fairly standard city setbacks, and then you’ve got unincorporated acreage and lake-adjacent property north of Lake Conroe where the rules are more open. If your property is part of a community with its own HOA or deed restrictions near the lake, we don’t assume to know which ones apply. Check with your association before you finalize a fence plan, since restrictions on height, style, or placement can vary.

Out on acreage, farm and ranch fencing is usually the right call for keeping livestock in or marking property lines without breaking the bank.
