About Spring

Spring is a census-designated place in Harris County with about 62,500 residents, though the “Spring” name and mailing address stretch into parts of Montgomery County too, which is part of why rules can vary block to block. It started as a 19th-century railroad town, and Old Town Spring, a restored historic district with well over a hundred shops and restaurants, is still the anchor of the older part of town. I-45 is the main corridor running through it.

Yard Type & Rules

Spring is a mix: newer HOA-governed subdivisions like Gleannloch Farms and Springwoods Village with their own design guidelines, and older non-HOA streets in parts of Klein and Memorial Northwest with a lot more flexibility. The Harris/Montgomery county line also runs through this area, so which rules apply can depend on exactly where your lot sits.

Materials Common Here

Cedar and wood privacy fencing is common across most of Spring. Vinyl shows up in some of the newer HOA sections, so check with your HOA on approved styles before you buy.

Chain link is mostly restricted in the newer HOA communities but more accepted on older non-HOA streets. Aluminum is a good fit around pools.
