About Silsbee

Silsbee is a Hardin County city of about 6,935 residents that grew up around a sawmill and the Gulf, Beaumont and Kansas City Railway in the 1890s. It was originally called “Mill Town” before being renamed for Nathaniel Devereux Silsbee, a Boston investor who helped fund the railway. State Highway 327 connects Silsbee to Kountze, the Hardin County seat, a few miles to the northwest.
