Cleveland is a Liberty County city of about 7,500 residents along the US-59/I-69 corridor. It got its start in 1878 when local judge Charles Lander Cleveland donated land for a stop on the Houston East and West Texas Railway, and it’s been a shipping point for timber, lumber, and lumber byproducts ever since. The city incorporated in 1935, and the Sam Houston National Forest borders it to the north.
