About Kingwood, Atascocita & Huffman

Kingwood grew up through the 1970s, 80s, and 90s as a heavily wooded master-planned community), and was annexed into the City of Houston at the very end of 1996. It sits along the San Jacinto River’s east fork, with public boat access to Lake Houston at River Grove Park. Atascocita, just to the east, is unincorporated Harris County rather than part of the city. Huffman sits further east along FM 2100 and FM 1960, wrapping around the east side of Lake Houston. It’s also unincorporated Harris County, home to roughly 12,000 residents spread across about 39 square miles of subdivisions, small farms, and wooded acreage.

Kingwood is built around named villages, and we work in the villages including Kings Point, Kings Forest, Elm Grove, Trailwood, Woodland Hills, Sherwood Trails, Mills Branch, Fosters Mill, Bear Branch, Hunters Ridge, Kingwood Lakes, Riverchase, Oakhurst, Woodstream, and Kings Manor. In Atascocita, that includes Eagle Springs, Kings River Village, Walden on Lake Houston, Atascocita Forest, Atascocita Shores, and Atascocita Meadows. Yard Type & Rules

HOA-governed subdivisions are common in both Kingwood and Atascocita, with height limits, approved materials, and even fence color spelled out in your HOA’s rules. Huffman is unincorporated, so most properties there don’t go through a city permitting process for a fence, though some newer Huffman subdivisions do have their own HOA guidelines. Confirm your specific HOA’s fence guidelines before you buy materials; it’ll save you a return trip if something needs to be swapped out for approval. Properties closest to the San Jacinto River and Lake Houston, including lots in Huffman, should also account for flood-prone ground when planning post depth and material choice. Cedar and wood privacy fencing is the standard look across Kingwood, Atascocita, and Huffman, and it’s usually the safest bet for HOA approval where one applies. Vinyl is allowed in some HOA sections, but colors and styles vary by community, so confirm with your HOA before ordering. For pool enclosures, aluminum fencing is a common choice since it meets code requirements while keeping sightlines open. Out on the larger acreage and farm properties common around Huffman, farm and ranch fencing is often the more practical choice, and chain link is a common budget option for bigger yards.
