Tyler & Hardin County, Big Thicket Country

Deep East Texas, covering Woodville in Tyler County and Silsbee and Kountze in Hardin County, is Big Thicket country. Woodville is the Tyler County seat, a town of about 2,400 residents where U.S. Highways 69, 190, and 287 all meet, with the Big Thicket National Preserve just south and west of town. Kountze, the Hardin County seat with about 2,100 residents, is known as the Gateway to the Big Thicket and sits closest to the preserve’s visitor center. Silsbee, Hardin County’s largest city at around 6,935 residents, grew up as a sawmill town along the Gulf, Beaumont and Kansas City Railway in the 1890s and connects to Kountze via State Highway 327.

Where We Work

Where We Actually Work

We take on fence jobs throughout Woodville, Silsbee, and Kountze, plus the surrounding Tyler and Hardin County land between them. We also get occasional calls from smaller communities nearby, like Chester and Colmesneil in Tyler County and Sour Lake and Saratoga in Hardin County. If your property isn’t right in one of the three towns, that’s fine, we cover the surrounding area just as often.

Yard Type & Rules

Mostly Rural, Acreage-Style Properties

Woodville, Silsbee, Kountze, and the Tyler and Hardin County land around them are mostly rural, acreage-style properties. All three towns are incorporated cities, so some in-town fence projects may need a permit; most of the surrounding county land doesn’t. We’ll confirm what applies to your address during the estimate.

Materials Common Here

Farm & Ranch and Wood/Cedar

Given how rural most of Tyler and Hardin County are, farm and ranch fencing is usually the more practical option out this way. In town, in Woodville, Silsbee, and Kountze alike, wood and cedar fencing is also a common choice for standard residential lots.

In-Town Lots

Permits

City vs. County Land

Some cities and HOAs require a permit or architectural approval before you install a fence. We’ll tell you what applies to your project during the estimate rather than guessing over the phone.
